Vista is acquiring Washington based Apptio for $1.94 billion

Tech focused private equity firm Vista has reached a deal to acquire Washington based enterprise software company Apptio for $38.00 a share, amounting to $1.94 billion of total value and a 53% premium to the company's unaffected closing price as of November 9, 2018.

Apptio's headquarters will remain in Bellevue, Washington with its regional offices across the globe after the acquisition now subject to customary closing conditions, including the approval of Apptio shareholders and antitrust approval in the United States. The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2019.

Apptio was founded in 2007 and develops technology business management software as a service applications. Its enterprise apps are designed to evaluate and make known the cost of IT services for planning, forecasting and budgeting purposes. The Model 3 starts delivering to Canada

Tesla's notable mass market but premium looking Sedan, The Tesla Model 3 has started delivering internationally to Canada after sending a massive batch of invites 2 months ago to Canadian residents who made reservations for the electric vehicle.

The vehicle will sell for $46,500 CAD in the country with the current Model 3s being equipped with a Long Range battery pack, premium interior package and rear-wheel drive.

Tesla has also started taking orders internationally for another version which is The dual motor all-wheel drive and performance version of the vehicle but will start producing these versions in 2 months time.

In Ontario, Canada, The Tesla Model 3 carries $14,000 CAD in incentives before purchase which brings down the price to $31,600 for buyers which will greatly increase sales and decrease cost for the consumers.

The Model 3 will also come with an $8,000 CAD incentive in the province of Quebec, Canada after being added to the list of vehicles eligible for incentives recently.

Deliveries for The Tesla Model 3 would soon start for its Canadian Reservation holders and we can't wait to hear their opinions on the amazing vehicle as reviewed by various consumers.

Volkswagen reportedly mulling investment into Ford's Argo self-driving unit

As per a new report, Volkswagen is considering an investment into Argo AI, The Detroit based self-driving company backed by a $1 billion investment commitment by Ford to accelerate what counts as the auto industry's future.

The report comes from Bloomberg citing  people familiar with the discussions. It also states that Volkswagen is in line to share electric vehicle technology with Ford tapping into the vast amount of investments it has committed for battery powered vehicles.

It also notes of the investment being possibly significant as it could speed up both companies self-driving efforts which count as a costly but crucial effort for auto companies around the globe. ComfortDelGro to test autonomous vehicles in real traffic conditions at NUS campus

Singaporean transport company ComfortDelGro is embarking on a trial of an autonomous bus shuttle service in real traffic conditions in the National University of Singapore’s (NUS) Kent Ridge campus and will involve the Singaporean arm of automotive distribution company Inchape and Toulouse-based autonomous vehicle startup EasyMile.

It'll make use of an EasyMile EZ10 autonomous shuttle operated by ComfortDelGro and funded by Inchape. The shuttle which can carry a total of 15 passengers will run along a 1.6 km route in the NUS campus between Heng Mui Keng Terrace and Business Link.

Operating in real-traffic conditions alongside regular vehicles, The trial will rely on ely on its own internal array of software and hardware technologies for navigation without assistance from external infrastructure as per ComfortDelGro. A safety engineer will be on board during the trial to provide engineering expertise and also ensure safe operation.

Blackberry reportedly in talks to acquire Cylance in up to $1.5 billion deal

According to a new report from Business Insider, Waterloo based Blackberry is said to be in talks to acquire Cylance, the cybersecurity company that raised $120 million in June known for its math based solutions adopted by over 80 of the Fortune 500 companies.

The company applies artificial intelligence, algorithmic science, and machine learning to cybersecurity for prevention of advanced security threats and may count as a very good deal to Blackberry which has focused on security and enterprise software after a decline in its mobile phone business.

Although the valuation with its most recent round is not known, Cylance was already valued at $1 billion from a previous investment and counts the likes of DFJ, Blackstone, Dell Ventures, Khosla Ventures and Capital One as backers.

It currently counts 4,000 enterprise customers and $130 million revenue for its fiscal 2018 as per a company press release.

Daimler and Bosch will test self-driving cars in San José

Daimler and Bosch has announced they would kick off testing of self-driving cars in San José, the city located on the southern shore of San Francisco Bay in Silicon Valley with over 1 million residents. These trials are planned to begin in the second half of next year and will involve a fully automated driving (SAE Level 4/5) on-demand ride-hailing service.

Automated Mercedes-Benz S-Class vehicles would be used for the service which will be offered to a selected user community in the San Carlos/Stevens Creek corridor between downtown and west San José. The on-demand ride-hailing service will demonstrate how its mobility services such as car sharing (car2go), ride-hailing (mytaxi) and multi-modal platforms (moovel) can be connected for use.

Karsan's “Jest” electric bus will now run on BMW i3 engines and batteries

Jest, the fully electric bus produced by Turkish manufacturer Karsan will now run on engines and batteries from the BMW i3 model marking advancement of electromobility for the German auto manufacturer.

Honda outs the 2019 edition of its popular CRF Trail family

Honda has outed the 2019 edition of its popular CRF Trail family with 2 updated models and one completely new bike dubbed the the CRF250F, CRF125F and CRF110F. They all benefit from the adoption of Keihin electronic fuel injection systems and are off-road legal for all 50 U.S. states.

The CRF250F is fitted with a SOHC long-stroke, air-cooled engine for a linear power delivery that boasts 22cc more displacement than the outgoing CRF230F and a new chassis that has 12mm more rear-wheel travel and 5mm taller seat foam than the preceding model. It's set for the markets beginning from February next year and goes for $4,600.

The CRF125F has a new twin-spar steel frame and a Keihin electronic fuel injection system that makes it smoother, stronger and more stable. Microsoft filings revealed it paid $1.3 billion cash as part of GitHub deal

Early June, Microsoft reached a deal to acquire code repository GitHub for $7.5 billion in what was then described as an all-stock deal. A recent Microsoft filing shows otherwise revealing that the Redmond based software giant made $1.3 billion in cash payments as part of the deal.

The company stated the $7.5 billion figure was “inclusive of cash payments of $1.3 billion in respect of vested GitHub equity awards and an indemnity escrow” and also noted the deal closed on the 25th of October.

Acquiring GitHub was part of Microsoft's broader clinch of open source software and efforts to attract more software developers for its platform. The company is now led by Microsoft executive Nat Friedman who took a position at the company after its acquisition of Xamarin, a mobile app development platform for a reported price range of $400 million - $500 million.
